Profile

Bruce has over 25 years' experience in mechanical services engineering and energy efficiency. His early career was largely based in engineering, covering industrial engineering and air-conditioning. After spending some time managing his own property portfolio, Bruce moved back into engineering and energy efficiency consulting, working for companies in both New Zealand and Australia. His work at this stage diversified into energy auditing and demand management of a wide range of industrial, commercial and institutional facilities, supported by a firm load of design consulting.

Major projects included the audit and analysis of the, Melbourne Southeast Water Treatment Plant, development of plans for plants for remote area power systems and, over 300 energy audits of large commercial and industrial sites under the Victorian Government’s then State Electricity Commissions Demand Management Program. Specifications were developed for a number of sites and the implementation of the energy saving measures supervised. Other work included audits of swimming pools across Victoria.

He was involved in the Development of a Best Practice Fleet Management Program for the Commonwealth Government of Australia aimed at reducing the fuel consumption of car and light van Fleets.and a solid workload of energy audits in New Zealand comprising commercial and Industrial buildings.

Other work included Energy Audits of some 20 large Australian State Capital, city buildings, and providing estimates for the mechanical modifications to achieve energy savings in a number of large hospitals.

Major design and project management work has included all work for the New Morgue and the new Emergency Services Department at the Dunedin Public Hospital.

Recent work has involved peer review of the design for the new $300ml Wellington Hospital in New Zealand and various hospital energy audits. He has presented papers on Demand Management and Vehicle energy efficiency at various Conferences around Australia.
