Profile

Peter has had a long interest in both the theoretical and practical aspects of energy efficiency and building science. During his years at an inland University as Environmental and Energy Manager Peter was responsible for a wide range of projects including the setting of University environmental goals, the establishment of a University design protocol designed to reduce energy use for all new building and the installation of a water, gas and electrical metering systems. Peter was also part of the design team working on a projected 6 star Green Star office building that incorporates phase change material and through the use of a unique control strategy is expected to reach an energy target well above the 5 star NABERS OFFICE energy benchmark.

With his background in physics, research studies in thermal comfort and energy use, Peter is able to work as part of the Exergy team on a broad range of tasks. Peter has had experience in building thermal modelling using both TRNSYS and Tas software. He is also proficient in Ecotect and Radiance used to execute daylighting simulations. Such simulations form the basis for Green Star credit reports and establishing the energy performance for new and refurbished buildings using the NABERS OFFICE Energy protocols.

Drawing on his experience as a lecturer at La Trobe University Peter is coordinating the Exergy training, to build and grow the knowledge and skill base of the next generation of energy professionals.

Peter has accreditation as a NABERS Assessor and as a Green Star Professional.
