Level 1 and Level 2 Energy Audits –  Insolvency Trustee Service Australia (ITSA)

Date: 2002
Client: Insolvency Trustee Service Australia

In 2002, Exergy completed Level 1 and Level 2 energy audits of the  Insolvency Trustee Service Australia (ITSA) tenancies in Barton, ACT.  Exergy was chosen from a select panel of Commonwealth Government accredited energy auditors to conduct the audits.

ITSA occupies three small to medium sized tenancies spread across two buildings.  The audits addressed energy use issues relating to lighting, office equipment and supplementary air-conditioning in the computer room.  The audit identified a number of opportunities for improvement, including:

  • Replacing the outdated fluorescent lamps used throughout the ITSA offices with a smaller number of modern triphosphor tubes, to achieve a reduction in lighting energy use and lighting levels better matched to Australian Standards;
  • Improving the light switching arrangements to encourage better overnight and weekend switch-off by the occupants; and
  • Reviewing the temperature setpoint in the computer room, which is lower than is customary.

Total savings identified amounted to around 9% of the annual energy use.
